This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
Alas I know not much of art as a job. My profession resides in Critique. It is something that makes many angry and some sad but when I find a piece I enjoy I will express so. I only give positive words on the deviantart though for I have but little right to speak considering the level of which my artistic prowess does leave me. As dirt among glass. As garbage among gold. My words try to give advice but having watch my tongue so great my words do become clouded and thus falter to naught.
It sounds like a very interesting profession, and one that artists should probably appreciate more. I definitely appreciated your critique, and would always welcome it, even if scolding.
There is always going to be someone who disapproves of something. A wise artist should hear what is said, especially what is said in kindness, and then rightfully choose to ignore the comments or to heed them.
I like my Concept Art lecturer, Truna, because she sees what I am trying to achieve and points out what she sees from the point of view of someone who doesn't already know the meaning intended... and obvious flaws.
Critics aren't really an artist's worst enemy... other artists are. My work would sell much better if there weren't other artists around *glares at other artists*
Only a fool asks to be scolded and taught. That is why the fool is so great at what he does. The proffesional on the other hand fails miserably. It is only because they dare not change what they have been doing which had gotten them where they are at. Under what I believe the fool always lives the longest life...Perhaps that is the true key to a fools luck.
I would also have to agree that art would sell better if there was less art around. The problem is that art sold greatly in days of old. This did bring change and that which was once considered art is not produced in mass in machines that are cold and heartless making the millions of paintings yet only the first one with a soul. Now in days now and to come even the most beautiful of art, the most gracefully painted pieces, even the most detailed sketches, hold so little value and having seen so many great things of beauty a hundred times over that, that which could be great is merely a shadow in comparison to the poster hanging on the walls of children and beauties now used as doormats in front of the entrance to a humble abode. If you seek proffesion in art I pray for you well for one who competes with steel often find there life cold and meaningless.
Now as for a literary practice I do adore such a thing. Not something that I have much skill in but it is something that I prance around in with poetic touches so far as I am capable of.
